Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s application in the High Court comes on the heels of the Court of Appeal allowing the former premier’s temporary passport release application on Monday (Oct 18), so that he could be in Singapore to support his daughter Nooryana Najwa Najib, who is expected to give birth soon

The prosecution led by senior Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram had made the application, with the defence led by Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader and Datuk Jagjit Singh objecting as the court heard submissions on the matter

Rosmah’s passport would be returned to her on Friday, and must be returned by or before Dec 6.

In other words, the funds in the YAB account were used for the personal enrichment of [Zahid] and for the benefit of a person or persons with whom Akalbudi has no connection or interest.

Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Datuk Raja Rozela Raja Toran contended that there was ample evidence to find that Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had dishonestly misappropriated YAB property entrusted to him. "All evidence points to a plain and obvious conclusion that the funds belonging to YAB had been used for a purpose other than what was intended.”

Lead prosecutor Datuk Raja Rozela Raja Toran said that a total of 50 cheques were issued between 2014 and 2016 from YAB's account — involving a sum of RM13,129,547.36.
