Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng in tabling Budget 2020 in Parliament today said the government will offer this scheme in collaboration with financial institutions.

The savings enable the Government to plan for other projects to drive economic growth including Sabah and Sarawak such as the 165km Trans Borneo Highway connecting Sabah and Sarawak to East Kalimantan.

For 2020, about RM587 million will be allocated for the Rural Water Supply Project, of which RM470 million is for Sabah and Sarawak to meet the 99% target of access to clean water.  

RM10 million towards a joint Government-UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) fund to co-finance SDG initiatives in Malaysia.

To support the development and improvement of basic infrastructure in new villages, the government will provide RM85 million in 2020.

Suggestion to increase minimum wage for workers in first-tier cities to RM 1,200. Implementation to start in 2020.
