IPOH: A total of 19 participants from various property development companies in the country attended the Real Estate & Housing Developers Association Youth Wing’s (Rehda Youth) tour of the Banjaran Hot Springs in Ipoh late last year.
According to Sam Tan, deputy chairman of Rehda Youth and executive director of Ken Holdings Bhd, the tour aims to cover interesting projects that have been completed.
“We’re grateful that the owners of the developments were happy to show us around. It’s about learning from each other,” he said.
The latest tour organised by Rehda Youth was dubbed “The Award-Winning Development Tour Series”. It saw developers from Kedah, Ipoh, Penang, Seremban and Kuala Lumpur attending.
The tour showcased the special features of Banjaran Hot Springs and allowed participants explore the sites themselves.
Prior to this, Rehda Youth took its members on tours to Setia Eco Park and Desa ParkCity in early 2013.
“We’re happy with the turnout as some of the tours had to be held twice because it exceeded demand,” he said.
Tan hopes more tours and talks will be organised by Rehda Youth this year.
“We have more activities in the pipeline such as talks and a tour around completed green buildings in Malaysia,” he said.
Tan said a tour to China may also be in the works while Rehda Youth scouts for more developers to host the tours.
Rehda Youth was established in 2010. It’s goal is to bring together the next generation of developers so that they may benefit from networking among peers and other industry players.
