KUALA LUMPUR: MBM Resources Bhd has awarded a RM6.65 million construction contract to Pembinaan Teknikhas Sdn Bhd.

Its 86%-subsidiary Federal Auto Holdings Bhd had on May 17 issued the award letter to Pembinaan Teknikhas to build a 6-storey annex to the existing Volvo 3S (sales, service and spare parts) centre in Temasya Industrial Park, Shah Alam.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia on Monday May 17, MBM Resources said the building comprises a showroom on the ground floor which will be used by F.A. Wagen Sdn Bhd, a unit of Federal Auto Holdings, as a Volkswagen showroom, whilst the rest of the building space will be used as a training centre and offices for own use.

The company said three tenderers were invited for the construction of the building and tenders were received on April 7.

“The construction of the building is to utilise the remaining land in Glenmarie to house a Volkswagen showroom, in conjunction with the new Volkswagen dealership operation as stipulated in the letter of intent signed with Volkswagen Group Malaysia on October 9 last year,” it added.

The construction of the building is expected to be completed by end of 3Q 2010.

Aqil Ahmad Azizuddin is a director of MBM Resources and Pembinaan Teknikhas. He is also the Chairman of Federal Auto Holdings. MBM Resources said he has abstained himself from providing any opinion nor made any decision in relation to the awarding of the tender.
