KUALA LUMPUR (April 2): Kota Kinabalu-based property developer Borneo Estate Development Sdn Bhd is planning a RM4.2 billion mixed-use development called Desa Impian in Kota Kinabalu, which is slated to launch by 3Q2016.
The 72-acre project will be developed over 10 years and comprise 7,800 apartments across 15 blocks and an integrated commercial component.
“It will be like Tampines or Ang Mo Kio in Singapore or KL Sentral. You live, work and do everything there. Besides, the project is located in the city centre,” Borneo Estate Development’s chief operating officer Ben Kong tells City & Country.
The apartments will have built-ups of 700 sq ft to 1,055 sq ft and be priced from RM295,000 to RM450,000.
Kong said while Desa Impian is not an affordable housing scheme, its apartments are priced more affordably than the average apartment in the city.
With this being the third project on its drawing board, Borneo Estate Development has just completed its maiden project -- the RM613 million Riverson integrated commercial development, and is working on its current development Maya@Likas, which is slated for completion in mid-2019.
