KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 2): Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) to provide integrated telecommunications — be it traditional broadband or wireless — to the property developer’s existing and upcoming projects.
MRCB’s executive director Mohd Imran Mohamed Salim told reporters after the signing ceremony here yesterday that TM has begun works on KL Sentral’s buildings.
“The focus, going forward, will be on commercial premises and transport hubs,” he said.
According to a statement, the MoU is to strengthen the existing telecommunication and information and communications technology infrastructure at MRCB properties.
At the same time, the two groups will look into providing Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled services for smart township services and smart building services.
TM chief technology and innovation officer Giorgio Migliarina said the beauty of this collaboration is that the telecommunications group will be able to work with architects and building owners to provide customised solutions that suit the businesses’ and occupants’ needs.
“Today, our business revolves around emphasising customers first. Imagine all the diversity in solutions we can provide to build a Smart City,” he said.
MRCB’s share price closed up three sen or 2.4% higher at RM1.28 yesterday, with a market capitalisation of RM2.66 billion. Meanwhile, TM shares fell one sen or 0.15% to close at RM6.83, valuing it at RM25.67 billion.
