New LRT line from Putra Heights kicked off today

KUALA LUMPUR (June 30): The Light Rail Transit (LRT) line from Putra Heights to the Kuala Lumpur city centre started operations at 6am today, Bernama reported.

Fifteen stations were opened in the Line Extension Project (LEP) encompassing the Putra Heights interchange, which links the Kelana Jaya and Sri Petaling lines, said Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd CEO, Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin.

"From Putra Heights, you can choose whether to use the Kelana Jaya or Sri Petaling/Ampang line based on your destination," he explained in a statement today.

According to Bernama, the two new stations that opened on the Sri Petaling/Ampang line, in addition to Putra Heights, were Prima Puchong and Puchong Perdana.

Ahmad Nizam said the LEP also connected with the Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Komuter and Sunway line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services.

"Connectivity to the BRT-Sunway line is provided at the USJ 7 station, while the interchange with the KTM Komuter Port Klang-Rawang line is at the Subang Jaya station. These are two new stations under the Kelana Jaya LEP," he said.

The other 10 stations under the Kelana Jaya LEP are Lembah Subang, Ara Damansara, Glenmarie, SS15, SS18, Taipan, Wawasan, USJ21, Awan Megah and Subang Alam.

Ahmad Nizam also explained that Rapid Bus would begin its feeder bus service to ensure customers could easily get to their destinations.

Ahmad Nizam said there would be free parking for the park 'n ride zone for the first month of operations, and customers can also use the MyRapid SMART 30 monthly package or SMART 7 weekly package.
