KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 20): Part of Jalan Masjid India here, closed due to a sinkhole incident, has been reopened to the public, effective Nov 10.

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in a statement today said that the reopened stretch includes areas near the police beat base at Jalan Masjid India and the alley between business premises.

"The reopening of this stretch was made after repair and land investigation work in the area were successfully completed.

"DBKL appreciates the patience and cooperation shown by the public and stakeholders throughout the duration of these works," according to the statement.

Meanwhile, the statement also said that the ground zero area, which is the site of the sinkhole incident located near Wisma Melayu, is still closed for ongoing repair work.

"Based on performance work at the site, this ground zero area is expected to be fully reopened by the end of December 2024 compared to the initial completion date in February 2025.

"DBKL is committed to ensuring that this work can be completed safely and thoroughly," the statement added.
