IPOH (Nov 15): Sunway Property, the real estate arm of Sunway Bhd (KL:SUNWAY), achieved RM42 million in sales at a pre-launch event for upcoming townhouses named Sunway Bayu in Sunway City Ipoh, Perak.

As part of the 1,350-acre ongoing Sunway City Ipoh township development, the RM120 million Sunway Bayu comprises 168 townhouses with built-ups ranging from 1,044 sq ft to 1,130 sq ft, and selling from RM620,000, according to the project’s official website.

The one-day pre-launch event for Sunway Bayu was held on Nov 10 and drew over 100 families in attendance. The new homes will be officially launched in December 2024.

Sunway Property chief executive officer for the Central and Northern regions Chong Sau Min attributed the success of the pre-launch event to the project’s strategic location, as well as the product’s innovative, forward-thinking design.

“The overwhelming response for Sunway Bayu during the pre-launch event highlights not only the demand for innovative homes within dynamic, sustainable communities offering extensive lifestyle amenities, but also the confidence buyers have in the Sunway brand. We are confident that Sunway Bayu is poised for continued success with RM42 million in sales already secured, even at the pre-launch stage,” said Chong in a press statement issued on Thursday (Nov 14).

With GreenRE certification, Sunway Bayu incorporates eco-friendly features, such as low VOC paint, water-efficient systems, and a north-south building orientation for passive heat control. Energy-saving features include five-star rated air conditioning, solar water heaters, and sensor lighting in common areas, providing cost-effective and environmentally friendly living.

The development provides wellness-focused amenities, such as a linear garden, outdoor gym, jogging paths, bicycle-friendly paths, community farming options, electric vehicle (EV) charging-ready points, multigenerational features like elderly- and child-friendly designs, as well as security features such as 24-hour CCTV, patrol guards, and a gated neighbourhood.

Building on Sunway City Ipoh’s expansion plans, Chong said, “With a targeted GDV (gross development value) of RM6 billion, we will be leveraging our unique build-own-operate business model to expand Sunway City Ipoh with an additional RM4 billion in investments. This approach aligns with our role as a master community developer and co-investor, committed to staying with our communities and fulfilling our brand promise of being ‘With You For Generations’”.

New investments include catalytic developments such as the upcoming Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh, which is expected to begin operating in 2025; the one-million-square-foot Sunway Ipoh Mall — the largest mall in Perak — set for completion in 2027; and the future Sunway Education campus. These additions, along with existing attractions, such as The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat and The Lost World of Tambun, further enhance Sunway Bayu’s appeal and the township’s standing as a premier integrated destination.
