KUALA LUMPUR (July 4): The 23rd edition of Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (Archidex) is seeing a bigger number of participants compared to last year.
Housing and Local Government (KPKT) Minister Nga Kor Ming said that with the increased number of participants, this year’s exhibition is expected to garner over RM1 billion in sales transactions.
Nga was accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who officiated the opening ceremony of Archidex yesterday.
Taking place on July 3 to 6, Archidex is hosting 700 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions and organisers are anticipating 40,000 visitors from over 100 countries.
Happening concurrently with Archidex is the Asean-China Ministerial Roundtable on Construction and Housing (ACMROCH) 2024 hosted by KPKT, and the DATUM Conferences.
ACMROCH will welcome ministers from Asean and China to discuss key regional growth issues and explore opportunities to jointly reinvigorate the Belt and Road Initiative while the DATUM Conferences will convene architects from local and international spheres for discourses on learning and professional development.

By highlighting ground-breaking innovations and sustainable practices, this event aims to inspire and drive the industry forward. Let us leverage the insights and innovations presented here to drive our industry to greater heights and create a lasting impact on the built environment,” said Nga in a report by theedgemalaysia.com.

I am hopeful that we can achieve consensus and set priorities for accelerating the implementation of sustainable urban development in Asean and China.”
Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, ACMROCH celebrates a legacy of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile Anwar said he is “pleased to know that many of our architects are familiar with and committed to ensure that what we show is not just any other city or concrete jungle, that’s same throughout the world. It has to have character, it has to be culturally vibrant in the context of Malaysia”.
“If we do not take that into consideration in either planning, crafting or building. So it is important for developers, architects, planners and policymakers to ensure that our developments are culturally vibrant, modern and technologically sound, environmentally friendly and takes into consideration of the requirements of all sectors,” he added in the same report by theedgemalaysia.com.
“Exhibitions drive innovation, trade opportunities, unite industry players and create platforms for a prosperous future. At Archidex, we support visionaries, leaders and the trade to foster connections, sparks business collaboration and inspire progress. Having ACMROCH held concurrently with Archidex will further underscore the growing significance and recognition of our event with the regional architecture community,” said CIS Network Sdn Bhd president and joint organiser for Archidex, Datuk Vincent Lim.

Adrianta Aziz is of the view that: “Architects shape societies, revolutionise the building industry and transform environments for a better future.
