KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): Datuk Ir Ho Hon Sang of Equatorial Palms Sdn Bhd has been elected Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA) Malaysia president during the association’s Annual Delegates Conference on June 29.

Taking over Ho’s previous post of deputy president is REHDA Selangor’s chairperson, Datuk Zaini Yusoff of I&P Group Sdn Bhd (S P Setia Bhd).

This comes after the conclusion of Datuk NK Tong’s two-year term. Tong, who held the presidency since July 2022, had also been the acting president for about six months prior to his appointment.

During his tenure, Tong was actively involved in engagements with industry players particularly Putrajaya, and was appointed as one of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government’s panel of experts, Construction Industry Development Board’s (CIDB) board of directors as well as a member of KL City Hall’s (DBKL) advisory board.

“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Datuk Tong for his dedication and diligence over the past two and a half years in his efforts to elevate the property industry to greater heights,” said Ho.

“He has set the bar very high, and I am aware of the challenges that await me as the new REHDA president. But I am confident that with the guidance from Datuk Tong and the past presidents, as well as the support of the other National Council members and REHDA members at large, I will be able to continue the legacy to our achievements as a Responsive, Respected, Responsible and Relevant NGO,” added Ho.
