KUALA LUMPUR (July 10): There has been “a bit of surge” in applications for the Sarawak-Malaysia My Second Home (Sarawak-MM2H) programme, said Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
“I chair meetings about the programme every month and now I am seeing a bit of surge in the number of people wanting to participate in the programme, which is good,” Borneo Post Online reported Abdul Karim saying at the the ‘Sarawak International Tourism and Entrepreneur Dinner’ in Kuching yesterday.
He revealed that many of the applicants comprised retirees, with a significant number of new applications this year were from Singapore, followed by those from the US and Hong Kong.

According to the same Borneo Post Online report, more than 230 applications for the Sarawak-MM2H have been approved so far this year
Last year, there were 411 Sarawak-MM2H programme approvals, with applications by those from Hong Kong leading the pack at 69, followed by the US (59), the UK (50), Singapore (42), Japan (35), China (25), South Korea (20), Australia (17), Canada (12), and France (12), among other nationalities.
