• Fauzi holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Mining Engineering from the prestigious Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, and had served as an engineer in several private and government entities in his early career.

KUALA LUMPUR (June 26): MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR Corp) has appointed Datuk Seri Fauzi Abdul Rahman (pictured) as its new non-executive chairman, effective last Thursday (June 22).

“As we embark on this new chapter for the project, his long history of astute leadership and unwavering commitment to positive growth will strengthen our resolve in bringing the project to fruition for the benefit of the country and the people,” said MyHSR Corp CEO Datuk Mohd Nur Ismal Mohamed Kamal.

Fauzi previously served on the board of directors of Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) between 2018 and 2021 and is deemed “well-versed in the development and challenges within the industry”, according MyHSR Corp.

Fauzi has held various senior positions in the public service and served in various ministries.

He was a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department between 1997 and 1999.

Fauzi was also the Member of Parliament (MP) of Kuantan between 1990 and 1999, and later, the MP of Indera Mahkota between 2013 and 2018.

“With impeccable credentials in the engineering field and having served on the board of numerous government agencies and private companies, [Fauzi] will provide strategic guidance and support to the board whilst ensuring MyHSR Corp fulfils the aspiration of the government of Malaysia to fully privatise the High Speed Rail (HSR) project through Private Financing Initiative (PFI),” said MyHSR Corp.

In addition to this latest appointment, MyHSR Corp said Fauzi chairs the board of two private companies.

He is also a former Pahang state assemblyman for Beserah.
