KUALA LUMPUR (April 25): Mohammed Rashdan Mohd Yusof (pictured) has relinquished all his directorships and is stepping down as deputy group managing director of Gamuda Bhd.

In a statement on Tuesday (April 25), Gamuda said Rashdan had given up all directorships effective immediately while his last day at Gamuda will be June 30.

The resignation came about two months after Rashdan was made the chairman of the Energy Commission (EC) in February.

“The group extends its best wishes to Rashdan for his future endeavours, including for his role as the chairman of the EC.

“Rashdan assured the board that there had been full compliance with all conflict-of-interest provisions as stated in the Energy Commission Act (Act 610) and that good governance was observed in all of his deliberations at the EC.

“His departure from the group is to focus his attention, energy and effort on serving his national duty,” said Gamuda in the statement.

Gamuda said Rashdan joined the company on May 1, 2018 as deputy group managing director and was subsequently appointed as the alternate director to Datuk Lin Yun Ling on Sept 28, 2018.

It said he has 26 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking, corporate consultancy and financial services.

Gamuda said during his tenure with the company, Rashdan was instrumental in the highway sale involving Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Bhd's (ALR) takeover of the following Klang Valley highways concessionaires: Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak), Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Sdn Bhd (Sprint), Kesas Sdn Bhd (Kesas) and Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir dan Terowong Sdn Bhd (SMART).

Meanwhile, Gamuda said Datuk Ha Tiing Tai remains the serving deputy group managing director, a position he has held since June 1, 2012.
