SELANGOR (Feb 3): The S P Setia Foundation made Chinese New Year more meaningful for the residents of an old folks’ home in Semenyih with a special visit accompanied by gift bags contributed by the foundation and the staff of S P Setia.

As part of the company’s ‘Sincerely Setia’ campaign, the foundation yesterday delivered the bags to 36 senior residents of the non-profit Joy Garden Old Folks’ Home, which contained toiletries and essentials such as pyjamas, socks, a bath towel, face towel, shampoo, shower gel, toilet rolls, instant oat drinks sponsored by OatLife and biscuits.

“In conjunction with the festive season, we brought some gifts prepared by S P Setia Foundation as well as members of Team Setia including food and toiletries which we hoped would be helpful for the senior residents,” said S P Setia Foundation Trustee Dr Azura Mansor.

The event was part of the foundation’s second Trust Object, which is to provide assistance to meet the needs of Malaysians who are underprivileged, disabled, poverty-stricken or critically ill.

“We hope to help more communities in need in the future through our on-ground activities such as ‘Sincerely Setia’,” added Dr Azura.

Through this programme, S P Setia Foundation is also supporting those from the less abled community by purchasing socks to be included in the gift bags, which were made by the residents from Lovely Disabled Home.

A special physiotherapy talk for the senior residents was also conducted by physiotherapist

Eman Yazid along with demonstrations of light exercises that help maintain joint health.

Dr Azura Mansor, who is also an orthopaedic surgeon, shared some advice on stretching exercises for the elderly to maintain and strengthen bone health.

Datuk Halipah Esa, one of the Board of Directors of S P Setia Bhd, was also present at the event and presented a token of appreciation to James Yong, who runs the home.
