KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 29): Malaysia’s daily number of administered Covid-19 vaccine doses rose to 329,722 on Tuesday (Sept 28) from 323,335 on Monday.

This raised the total number of vaccine doses administered nationwide to 43,028,919, according to the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) COVIDNOW website.

Of the latest doses administered on Tuesday, 168,734 individuals received their first jab, while the remaining 160,988 took their second shot.

As of Tuesday, 23,178,045 recipients or 71% of the nation’s population had received at least their first dose, including 19,945,616 persons or 61.1% having been administered both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

In terms of the country’s adult population, 94% of adults in the country had received at least their first dose, including 85.1% who were fully vaccinated.

The website also showed that 1,184,336 recipients or 37.7% of adolescents in the country, comprising those aged 12 to 17, had received at least their first dose, including 33,050 people or 1.1% of adolescents who had completed their two-dose vaccination.

For the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, 7,265,744 people or 86.3% of its total population had received at least one dose.

Among them, 6,796,916 individuals or 80.7% of the Klang Valley’s population were fully inoculated.

Malaysia reported 11,332 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, up from 10,959 reported on Monday. This raised the nation’s cumulative tally of infections to 2,220,526.

Meanwhile, 240 more Covid-19-related fatalities were reported, raising the country’s cumulative Covid-19-linked deaths to 25,935.
