KUALA LUMPUR (July 24): Malaysia administered 462,242 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday (July 23), down 8.84% from 507,050 shots a day earlier.
A total of 301,536 individuals received their first dose yesterday, while the remaining 160,706 shots were second jabs, according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).
Cumulatively, 16.49 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered thus far, with 11.22 million people or 34.29% of the population receiving at least the first dose, including 5.26 million recipients or 16.08% of the population who have been fully vaccinated.
Selangor was the state with the highest number of first doses administered yesterday at 93,699, followed by Kuala Lumpur (50,158), Sabah (31,498), Johor (26,431) and Penang (23,476).
For second doses, Sarawak topped the list at 37,869 yesterday, followed by Kuala Lumpur (35,535), Selangor (34,991) and Perak (14,612).
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases surged to a record high of 15,573 yesterday, up 19.48% from 13,034 the day before.
This brought the country’s cumulative Covid-19 infections to 980,491.
A total of 144 Covid-19 related deaths were reported yesterday, raising the nation's death toll to 7,718.
