Covid-19: Malaysia reports 1,309 new cases, three deaths

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 29): Malaysia reported today 1,309 new confirmed Covid-19 cases and three deaths due to the pandemic, as Kuala Lumpur (KL) registered the highest number of new daily fresh cases at 493.

In a statement today, health director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 1,309 newly-reported infected individuals brought the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country so far to 64,485.

Dr Noor Hisham said the three additional Covid-19-related deaths today brought the cumulative number of fatalities in the country due to the pandemic to 357 so far.

He said that out of the 1,309 new Covid-19 cases reported today, one was imported while 1,308 involved local transmissions.

In geographical terms, Dr Noor Hisham said KL reported the highest number of new daily Covid-19 cases at 493, followed by Sabah and Selangor at 290 and 238 respectively.

On KL, he said 473 out of the 493 cases are from "construction site clusters".

He said the 473 new cases include 23 from the newly-reported Sungai Mulia construction site cluster within the district of Titiwangsa here.

Across the country until today, there are 116 Covid-19 positive patients who are being treated at the intensive care unit, according to Dr Noor Hisham.

Out of the 116 patients, 42 need breathing assistance, he said.

The deceased due to Covid-19 reported in Malaysia today comprised of two men and a woman. Dr Noor Hisham said both men were Malaysians, while the woman was a foreigner. They were a 64-year old man from Perak, an 89-year old man from Negeri Sembilan and a 53-year old woman from Sabah.
