KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 23): The Teratai cluster, which is linked to the world's largest glove manufacturer Top Glove Corp Bhd, now has more than 1,000 Covid-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
Yesterday, the Teratai cluster reported 504 new cases, pushing the current tally of total infections in the cluster to 1,457.
The ministry confirmed that the new cases involved foreign workers.
Based on data prepared by the ministry, some 5,762 individuals have been screened so far, with 1,310 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals. To date, no deaths have been reported from the cluster.
Top Glove's worker dormitories in Klang and its surrounding areas are currently under the enforcement of Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) until Nov 30, after 250 Covid-19 cases were reported.
On Nov 17, Top Glove clarified that the implementation of EMCO affected about 5,700 of its workers.
Malaysia reported 1,096 Covid-19 cases yesterday, with Selangor seeing a spike to a fresh high with 603 cases.
In terms of the breakdown of cases in Selangor, Klang contributed around 528 cases, followed by Hulu Langat with 36, Petaling (15), Gombak (12), Kuala Langat (6), Sepang (5) and Kuala Selangor (1), the Selangor state health department reported via its Facebook account.
It added Selangor has had a total of 9,752 infections since the pandemic struck the country in January, while active cases in the state stood at 2,634.
Malaysia's total cases swelled to 54,775, from just 31,548 as of Oct 31.
