PETALING JAYA (Nov 6): A cat in distress was rescued by firefighters in Penang, when it was eventually freed from a sticky situation.

The brown and white-haired feline got its head stuck in a man-made hole in the lower part of a door – though how, it was unknown, reported the Malay Mail yesterday.

The mission involved 10 firefighters from the Bukit Mertajam Fire and Rescue Department, who found the cat with its head sticking out of one side and its body on the other side of the wooden panel at the National Youth Skills Institute.

Photos shared on the Info Roadblock JPJ/Polis Facebook page on Wednesday morning showed a fireman soothing the cat before cutting off a part of the door with special tools. Subsequently, they sawed through the section to loosen it from the furry pet.

The Facebook post has garnered nearly 10,000 reactions and over 1,600 comments from social media users who were relieved with the succcesful mission.
