KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 6): UEM Sunrise Bhd has announced the appointment of Chari Thandalam Veeravalli Thirumala and Poh Ying Loo as its new independent non-executive directors in the board of directors effective today.

The appointment is following the resignations of Subimal Sen Gupta Sen and Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib last month, according to a media release.

Chari Thandalam at his 64 is a chartered accountant by training with decades of experience in Hewlett Packard Malaysia. He also served Celcom Axiata Bhd and Axiata Group Bhd as group chief financial officer and is currently a consultant to several multinational and public listed companies. 

Meanwhile, the 58 year-old Poh is also a chartered accountant, who has more than 35 years’ working experience across a diverse set of industries including auditing, manufacturing and trading, before joining the retail industry. He spent 24 years in Aeon Co. (M) Bhd, rising the ranks until he was made chief financial officer before retiring as executive director, a position he held since May 2011.
