KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 7): The Ministry of Health (MoH) has carried out Covid-19 screening on about 90 close contacts of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri (pictured) as of noon yesterday.

All of them including a few cabinet ministers tested negative, said MoH director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

On Monday, Dr Zulkifli confirmed in a Facebook posting that he has tested positive for Covid-19.

Dr Noor Hisham said Dr Zulkifli is currently undergoing treatment and is in stable condition.

“The relevant district health office is still in the process of identifying all of his close contacts and conduct the necessary risk assessments, as well as screenings,” he said at a media briefing in response to a query on the minister’s close contacts.

In a statement issued on Monday, MoH said Dr Zulkifli did not show any symptoms of having caught the virus the past week.

The ministry also said that those who attended a special meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) on Oct 3, and identified as close contacts of Dr Zulkifli, have been ordered to be placed under Home Surveillance Order and given the bracelet for observation.

According to MoH, those who had no close contacts have been asked to conduct self-health monitoring at home for the next 14 days, as well as use the home assessment tools in the MySejahtera app.
