KUALA LUMPUR (April 20): Putrajaya today announced its sixth enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Pusat Bandar Utara and the areas surrounding the Selayang wholesale market also known as the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market, say reports.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government has decided to have the EMCO in these areas bases on the advice of the Health Ministry, the Malay Mail reported.

The duration of EMCO in the areas will be from today until May 3.

The eight parcels in the city that will be impacted by the latest EMCO are: Parcel A (Jalan 6/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara), Parcel B (Jalan 6/3A and 9/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara), Parcel C (Jalan 2/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara), Parcel D (Jalan 2/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara), Parcel E1 (Taman Sri Murni Fasa 2, Jalan 1/2D), Parcel E2 (Taman Sri Murni Fasa 1, Jalan 1/2D), Parcel E3 (Taman Sri Murni Fasa 3, Jalan 1/2B), Parcel F (Taman Batu View and Taman Batu Hampar).

Ismail Sabri also explained in his statement that the areas to be closed are the residential areas around the market, while the Selayang wholesale market itself will operate as usual during the EMCO period.

“All residents are requested to stay calm and fully co-operate with the personnel of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and to comply with all the directives of the authorities.

"Residents who need assistance or have any question can contact the DBKL MCO Operations Room at 03-4026 7222 or the Sentul IPD Control Centre at 03-4048 2212," he told a press conference after chairing a meeting of the Special Ministerial Committee on the MCO, here, today.

Accordinng to reports, there are 28 positive COVID-19 reported in the Pusat Bandar Utara and Selayang Wholesale Market areas, to date.

Prior to this, EMCO was implemented in five areas as of April 28 involving:

  • Kampung Dato Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato Ibrahim Majid, Simpang Renggam, Johor 
  • Kampung Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat, Selangor
  • Menara City One, Kuala Lumpur.
  • Bangunan Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion, Kuala Lumpur
  • Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding encompassing Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Melaka and Jalan Ampang.
