KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): Sarawak’s top cop Datuk Aidi Ismail (pictured) has tested positive for the COVID-19 and has been hospitalised, reported Malaysiakini today.

Aidi told the news portal that he went to the Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) recently complaining of a sore throat.

The hospital then contacted him last night to inform him that he had to be hospitalised for treatment.

Aidi revealed that his wife and officers who work closely with him at the Sarawak police contingent HQ have been ordered to self-quarantine pending results from their COVID-19 tests.

As for where he could have contracted the disease, Aidi said he went for state-level meetings, including Sarawak Disaster Management Committee meetings on COVID-19, “where several of the attendees were later confirmed positive”, he told Malaysiakini.

It was also reported today that 66 members of the police force have been tested positive for COVID-19 so far, according to Bukit Aman.
