KUALA LUMPUR (March 25): Health director-general (DG) Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced one more death from COVID-19 late last night, bringing the total number of fatalities to 16.
In a Facebook posting, Noor Hisham said the 75-year-old Malaysian, who had a history of chronic illness, died at 7.40pm yesterday.
The patient no 1334 was admitted to Hospital Angkatan Tentera Tuanku Mizan last Monday and was later transferred to KL Hospital last Wednesday.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases climbed to 1,624 in the country with 106 new cases as of yesterday noon, according to the Ministry of Health.
There are 24 more patients who have recovered and are allowed to be discharged yesterday. This brings the recovery tally to 183.
Selangor remains the state with the highest infection rate at 381 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (257), Sabah (170) and Johor (162).
