KUALA LUMPUR (March 22): Health director-general (DG) Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced one more death from COVID-19 today, bringing the total number of fatalities to nine.

In a Facebook posting , he said the 48-year-old doctor passed away at 10.33am this morning.

Noor Hisham said the victim had travelled to Turkey, and it was unlikely that the doctor was infected after serving in the frontlines, or from his colleagues who had treated COVID-19 patients.

According to the DG, he was admitted to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital, Kangar on March 17, 2020 after suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection.

“He was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 18, and has been given respiratory support since March 19, 2020 after his health declined."
