KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 25): A Kadir Jasin (pictured) has revealed in his blog posting today that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had appealed to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) members “not to force him to abandon his principle and renege on his promise (to hand over power to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after the November APEC Summit).

Kadir said this took place during the party’s supreme council meeting on Sunday.

Kadir also revealed in his blog that Dr Mahathir resigned as chairman of Bersatu “because he felt that majority of members of the party’s leadership council listened more to his Political Secretary than him”.

Malaysiakini has reported that Kadir’s revelation “paints a version of events that tallies with what PKR and DAP have been saying about Dr Mahathir”.

On Monday, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P Ramasamy said he was confident Dr Mahathir is not the mastermind behind the country’s current political landscape, reported Bernama.

He said Dr Mahathir would not resign as prime minister and chairman of Bersatu if that was his plan.

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is also of the same view.

“No I think it is not him ... his name was used by those within my party and outside. And he reiterated what he had said to me earlier, that he played no part in it. It is very clear that he will, in no way, ever work with those associated with the past regime,” Anwar said on Monday.
