KUALA LUMPUR (July 4): Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Latheefa Koya has confirmed that the Riza Aziz, the stepson of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, was arrested at noon today.

However, he has since been released on bail.

"He has to appear in court tomorrow to face charges under AMLA (Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act)," Latheefa said in a text when contacted by theedgemarkets.com.

News reports earlier today wrote that Riza had been picked up by MACC, and that the charge he would face was believed to be in relation to Red Granite Pictures receiving 1MDB funds.

The film producer, who is the son of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor from an earlier marriage, is co-founder of Red Granite.
