KUALA LUMPUR (March 13): It is only 10-months-old and still in training but it is bigger than an adult dog. That is how senior lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah (pictured) describes his guard dog that injured his hand and caused the postponement of a pre-trial hearing involving ex-PM Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, reported Malaysiakini.

“I have several dogs in my house and office compound. In my office, I have two Belgian Malinois. If you come uninvited, it would take your hand away. Very fierce guard dogs,” Shafee revealed to the media today.

Shafee said that there are two guard dogs in his home

“This one (the young dog still in training at home) was playful and tried to play with me, and I fell back.

“It was not caused by him (the dog), I got careless and became injured,” the news portal reported him saying.

Yesterday, Shafee sought an adjournment in the hearing of the last of four appeals related to the trial, as he has fractured his hand.

“My pet dog jumped on me (causing) me to fall, and I fractured my hand. I have to get my hand X-rayed, and unfortunately the specialist at the Columbia Hospital in Shah Alam is not available.

“I have to get my hand X-rayed again to see the extent of the injury maybe tonight (last night). However, I am prepared to do the appeal (today) and continue on Thursday (tomorrow) and Friday,” Shafee said yesterday.
