PETALING JAYA (May 31): The Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Director of Land and Mines Office has been ordered to freeze all transactions involving transfers of land owned by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) since May 10, said director Sharez Izuan Md Zaidi.

According to Bernama, he said this followed a discussion with Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa who also chairs the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Working Committee pertaining to DBKL’s land sales.

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok had earlier this week implored Ali to intervene in the allegedly suspicious transfer of 64 parcels of land in Kuala Lumpur measuring 424.29 acres as only the chief secretary of the government could issue directives to the Land Office to not approve land transactions.

On May 16, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng had lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over the sale of the 64 parcels of land between 2014 and this year, which he claimed was worth RM4.28 billion.
