PETALING JAYA (May 31): The government will review, renegotiate or postpone “high-value” projects that are cumulatively worth RM10 billion, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng (pictured).
These projects include those awarded through direct negotiation or limited tender exercises, with some of them possibly revoked, reported the New Straits Times.
“For example, there was a RM350 million contract awarded to carry out renovation and rehabilitation of the Sultan Abdul Samad building in Kuala Lumpur.
“Non-essential operating expenditure include professional and consulting services, refurbishments, events and promotional activities, and selected ICT systems upgrading.
“Also included are certain big-ticket budget allocations for mega projects such as MyHSR (KL-Singapore high-speed rail) and MRT3,” he said.
The projects and spending under review also include projects under the Internal Coordination Unit, capital injections to funds, transfers to the authorities of the various development corridors and projects paid for under the facilitation fund.
