First love-themed harbour launched in The Riviera

MELAKA (May 8): Love Harbour Melaka — the first love-themed harbour in the country — was launched on March 1 at The Riviera.

The 5-acre harbour, which features 100 units of shops, is a joint venture between First Avenue Partners (Asia) Sdn Bhd and Singgahsana Emas Sdn Bhd, a company wholly owned by Yayasan Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam.

Mythas Legacy Sdn Bhd is the lettings agent of the development's retail units.

The integrated tourism spot, which has a classical European architectural design, will offer several businesses, including boutique hotels, a variety of F&B establishments, and retailers such as bridal boutiques and other specialty shops, said Mythas Legacy in a press statement on March 2.

In keeping with its theme of love, the harbour has wedding planning services and a stunning cross-century love-themed pavilion that aims to become a tourism landmark, said the developer.

“Boasting impressive historical attractions and significance including the Strait of Malacca, the new harbour will be one of the major draws to what is already an outstanding tourism destination. Melaka has witnessed the increase of tourism as it reached 16.7 million tourists last year. Upon completion of the Love Harbour Melaka this month, we target to hit 1.6 million tourists annually,” said Mythas Legacy CEO Hedki Heng at the launch in March.

“We are confident that the Love Harbour Melaka will attract tourists from across the region. We target the revenue projection to be RM32 million in the first year, RM48 million in the following year and RM72 million in the third year,” Heng said, adding that they are currently seeking more tenants and businesses such as F&B outlets, bridal shops, wellness establishments and home decorations in order to help grow the Love Harbour Melaka.

The development commenced in 2015.
