MELAKA (Oct 19): Surveying works for the construction of the KL-Singapore High Speed Rail Station (KL-Spore HSR) here have been implemented to identify the coordinates and area needed by the project.

Melaka chief minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the project would involve the purchase of between 60.7ha to 80.9ha of land in Durian Tunggal from landowners, Bernama reported yesterday. 

“Surveying works have been done and now we are waiting for the nod from the MyHSR Corp Sdn Bhd for the land acquisition in the areas concerned.

“It is expected to carried out soon and we have identified the parties or individuals involved in the land acquisition for the project and they will be compensated accordingly,” he told reporters at the Deepavali open house hosted by special secretary to the Melaka chief minister, Shanmugam Pitchay here yesterday.

Melaka will have the fourth HSR station, with the 350km rail system cutting travel time between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to 90 minutes. The trains are expected to run at a top speed of more than 300kph.

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak the architectural concept designs for all seven stations for KL-Spore HSR.

The stations are located in Bandar Malaysia, Bangi-Putrajaya, Seremban, Melaka, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Puteri.
