PETALING JAYA (August 1): AirAsia Group proposed development of a low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) at Penang International Airport, a move that group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes estimates will bring in about eight million passengers per year, to Penang.

The Star quoted Tony, who said: "AirAsia had connected Penang to 23 countries via five international and five domestic routes.

“With a new LCCT, we can increase connectivity with domestic and Asean destinations, and introduce new international routes.

“A new terminal will help us increase our planes from five to 16 planes over the next five years," he said to the daily.
