KUALA LUMPUR/HAT YAI (Dec 22): The good response received by Tune Hotel Hat Yai from the Thais as well as foreign guests reflects positively on the hotel's future expansion in Thailand and the region.

In a statement on Thursday, group chief executive officer Mark Lankester said the company was encouraged with the debut in Thailand.

"Our pre-opening promotional rooms were snapped up almost instantly while the advance online booking is showing a healthy trend.

"This encouraging response sets a positive tone for our future openings in Thailand and the region," he said.

Lankester said with the latest hotel in Hat Yai, Tune Hotels now operated 14 hotels globally — ten in Malaysia, two in Bali (Indonesia) and one each in London and Thailand.

"Apart from Hat Yai, the hotel's rollout plan in Thailand for 2012 would include Pattaya, followed by Asoke in Bangkok, and Patong in Phuket," he said.

He said Tune Hotels has set a record for itself by registering three million guests over a period of four years since the opening of its first hotel in downtown Kuala Lumpur in 2007.

"We are proud of the three-millionth guest achievement and we would like to thank all our loyal and new guests who have embraced the accommodation concept and model pioneered by Tune Hotels, making it a global phenomenon," he said. — Bernama
