PUTRAJAYA: Teliti Datacentres' current project involving the building of a 120,000 sq ft data centre facility has been named one of the key projects under the Business Services sector Entry Point Projects (EPP).

It was among the 19 more EPPs from 10 National Key Economic Areas (NKEA EPPs) announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on Tuesday, Jan 11 in Putrajaya.

The EPPs have been revealed as part of the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) which is the government's effort in lifting Malaysia's gross national income (GNI) per capita transforming it into a high income nation.

Located at Bandar Enstek, Negeri Sembilan, the facility is scheduled to open in the first half of 2012 and will offer a range of services including data centre tenancy solutions and network infrastructure.

The PM, in his announcement, said Teliti Datacentres together with two other data centres collectively invest over RM 671 million for the developing and upgrading of existing facilities to supply 475,000 sq ft of data centre floor space.

Najib had mentioned the government's aspirations to "grow the data centre space from 0.5 million to 5 million sq ft by 2020 and establish Malaysia as the preferred destination for regional data centre investors".

Teliti Datacentres CEO Musa Mohd Lazim said: "We are delighted to have been acknowledged in this programme, which is set to transform the economy and advance Malaysia's status as a leading business destination.

"With the construction of our first facility on schedule, and strategic support from the Government, we are excited and optimistic about the future, and are proud to play a leading role in Malaysia's development as a world-class data centre hub."

Teliti Datacentres was incorporated under the Teliti Computers Sdn Bhd group to meet the demand for fully-integrated data centre services. Its current project aims to be one of the largest integrated green data centre in Asia.

The data centre will also play a role in supporting the development of green technology. According Teliti's website, the data centre aims to be the largest green data centre in Asia.

Teliti, in collaboration with Cisco, have been working to achieve world-class standard data centre infrastructure that incorporates green technology. The facility's design will enable the usage of solar energy and rainwater harvesting for day to day operations and smart cooling systems to recycle waste heat.

Cisco Malaysia managing director Anne Abraham said having a green data centre would "not only provide the organisation with a strong strategic-advantage with the new efficiencies it could generate but also be aligned with the government's environmental agenda".
