SHAH ALAM: The Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) was officially launched by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today, Tuesday April 27.

Set on a 2.5-acre land, SACC was built in 2006 and completed in June 2009 at a total development cost of RM66 million.

The SACC which has been operating for the last eight motnhs has a Plenary Hall of 4,391.7 sq ft and a pillarless ballroom of 24,111 sq ft. The ballroom is able to accommodate up to 3,000 guests.

Also present at the launch was Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, Shah Alam Mayor Datuk Mazalan Md Noor and the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) general manager Othman Omar. PKNS is the owner of SACC.

Khalid said he hoped that Selangor will become the hub for local and international Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions (MICE) events as this would boost the state’s economy. There are 25 MICE centers in Selangor including the SACC.

“The demand for convention centers is quite overwhelming. We already have as many as 75 events to be held in SACC,” he told reporters.
