KUALA TERENGGANU: A report on the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA) roof collapse on June 2 last year may be announced next week.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said said the state government had received the report via the state legal officer and the ministry concerned.

"The report will be discussed at the State Exco meeting next week and will be announced after approval is given," he said after chairing the weekly State Exco meeting here on March 3.

SSMZA was built for the Sukma Games here in 2008. The damaged roof of the stadium costing RM292 million was still not repaired.

Ahmad said the government needs to get views from the state legal officer and those involved before making the report public.

On the demolition of squatter houses on state land at Kampung Paya Bunga on March 2, Ahmad said the 12 families involved did not make any protest.

"Six families have moved to the public housing project at Kampung Mengabang Lekor, Batu Rakit near here.

"Only one or two people wanted to become heroes by obstructing public servants from doing their job," he added. -- Bernama
