IPOH: The perimeter wall of Perak Darul Ridzuan building collapsed after a heavy downpour last night (Nov 12)  causing part of Jalan Istana to be closed to traffic. There were no casualties in the incident at about 9pm.

Ipoh mayor Datuk Roshidi Hashim who was met at the scene said part of the 24 metre wall standing two metres collapsed due to strong water pressure. He said the drain beside the wall had clogged and that the water collected
forced the wall to collapse. Damage was estimated at about RM10,000.

The building which houses the Menteri Besar's office, the State Secretary and the State Assembly opened in 2000.
