Orang Asli houses

SEREMBAN (Oct 29): At least 138 Orang Asli villagers from Kampung Orang Asli Jeram Padang, Bahau, 55km east of Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, are living in darkness and without running water.

According to Persatuan Pembangunan Masyarakat Negeri Sembilan chairman Mohd Aryan Kailash, the state government built 15 PPRT houses for the Semelai tribe in the village more than a year ago, complete with electrical and water appliance fittings. It just did not bother to connect the houses to either the water or electricity mains supply.

“It has already been more than year and the villagers are living in the new PPRT houses.

“However, no piped water and electricity supply was provided for the houses.

“When the government can build houses complete with lights and ceiling fans for the Orang Asli, why can’t they provide the basic needs of every human being?” asked Aryan.

Aryan said the Orang Asli villagers have no choice but to using their own PVC piping, connected to a nearby river upstream.

“The authorities should do what it is supposed to do for the villagers.

“Water and electricity are basic utilities for everyone,” he said. -- The Malaysian Insider
