KUALA LUMPUR (May 3): Property developer LBS Bina Group Bhd (LBS) launched the first phase of the largest integrated development in Brinchang, Cameron Highlands today.

Precinct 1 of Cameron Centrum comprises 58 commercial shop units ranging from 2, 3 and 5 storeys with built-ups from 2,207sq ft to 9,214 sq ft. Prices are from RM1.46 million to RM5.55 million.

Precinct 1, which also comprises a 158-room boutique hotel, sits on a 5.66-acre leasehold site and has a total gross development value (GDV) of RM183 million. The project is expected to commence construction by August this year.

"With this development, we hope to transform Brinchang into a vibrant township, and boost Cameron Highlands' status as a leading hill-top tourist destination," said LBS managing director Tan Sri Lim Hock San at the launch event today.

“Cameron Centrum is close to amenities such as a post office and police station. The development also borders Tanah Rata, a major hub in Cameron Highlands, where local government offices, transportation and major financial services are located," he added.

According to Lim, more than 40% of the shop units have been booked to date. "We are expecting more than half of investors to be locals," he said.

Cameron Centrum covers 86 acres and will comprise seven precincts offering residential, retail, commercial, hotel and tourism components.

It is the developer’s fifth project in Cameron Highlands, after Carnation Park, Taman Royal Lily and Cameron Golden Hills in Tanah Rata and Brinchang Square in Brinchang.

Lim also shared that the group will be launching another five blocks of serviced apartments at its Bandar Saujana Putra township in Selangor totalling 1,437 units, in June or July this year.

"Our first five blocks of serviced apartments consisting of 1,170 units have been 94% sold. The upcoming five blocks will have a GDV of RM815 million," he said.

It will also be launching 2-storey linked houses, cluster semi-dees and semi-dees at its Desiran Bayu development in Puchong. There will be a total of 598 units of houses with a GDV of RM375 million, Lim added.

Today’s event was officiated by the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah.
