IJM Land Bhd is making its maiden appearance in the Top 10 of The Edge Top Property Developers Awards, coming in at the 10th position this year.

“The award is good for our group’s recognition, but we believe we can always improve ourselves,” said CEO and managing director Datuk Soam Heng Choon.

“This award is also a recognition of (IJM Land staff’s) hard work.”

IJM Land, ranked No 10 this year, was the result of a merger between IJM Properties Sdn Bhd and RB Land Holdings Bhd which was completed in 2008. It has a landbank of 5,183 acres throughout the country.

Its township developments such as Seremban 2 and Shah Alam 2 as well as upscale homes such as Platino and the Ampersand@Kia Peng, show its forte in building both large developments and niche luxury properties.

To date, its most ambitious undertaking is The Light Waterfront, a landmark 152-acre mixed development along Penang Island’s eastern coast.

With a gross development value (GDV) of RM5.2 billion, the project comes in at least three phases. The first phase comprises residential units, the second is a mixed development of hotels, malls and offices while the third phase is a seafront park.
