KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 11): Gabungan AQRS Bhd deputy chairman and executive director Ng Chun Kooi has resigned from the company, due to health reasons.

In a filing to the stock exchange today, the construction and property development firm said Ng’s resignation was effective yesterday.

Ng was appointed to the board on July 6, 2011 and subsequently redesignated as the deputy chairman on April 25 this year.

During his tenure as chief executive officer of the company, he was responsible for overseeing overall operations, strategic planning and implementation of policies for the group.

Ng has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry and is the co-founder of construction and engineering firm, Gabungan Strategik Sdn Bhd, one of the four businesses that merged to form Gabungan AQRS in 2010.

He and his brother Ng Chun Seong are among major shareholders of Gabungan AQRS, with a 26.4% stake.

At 3.01 p.m., Gabungan AQRS shares were up 1.5 sen (1.7%) at 89 sen, for a market capitalisation of RM345.53 million. — theedgemarkets.com
