KUALA LUMPUR (April 25): Kuala Lumpur Tower will reopen on Saturday, April 26, under new management, with ticket prices rising for international visitors and dropping by nearly 30% for locals at the Sky Deck.
New operator LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd (LSHSM) said Sky Deck tickets now cost RM50 for MyKad holders and RM28 for MyKid holders. For international visitors, prices have increased by more than 20% to RM140 for adults and RM80 for children.
Observation Deck tickets are RM30 for MyKad holders and RM20 for MyKid holders. International visitors pay RM80 for adults (33% more) and RM50 for children (about double).
It also said that all attractions at KL Tower — including the Sky Deck, Observation Deck, and Orbit Revolving Dining — will reopen to the public on Saturday. The Hemisfera Luxury Sky Hall is also open for new bookings.
LSHSM’s statement followed that of the Ministry of Communications, which announced the reopening.
KL Tower was temporarily closed for nine days to remove the previous operator, Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKLSB), which continued occupying the building after its concession ended on March 31, and to carry out restoration works.
“The reopening of KL Tower is in line with the ongoing commitment of the government to ensure the welfare of the workers involved, while providing services and a safe, conducive environment for visitors.
“Through the new management of KL Tower, led by LSHSM, the government is committed to ensuring efficient, customer-oriented service delivery, with continuous improvements to safety and comfort to attract both local and international visitors,” the ministry said in its statement on Friday.
KL Tower will reopen amid an ongoing dispute between MKLSB, LSHSM and the Malaysian government, challenging the KL Tower concession award.
MKLSB and its parent Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd filed a lawsuit to challenge the KL Tower concession awarded to LSHSM, after the government finalised a 20-year agreement and land lease with the company in March. This was despite the award announced in May last year.
There is also an upcoming interim injunction hearing on June 9 sought by MKLSB to preserve its status as the concessionaire holder throughout the legal process, and a judicial review application to cancel the eviction notice issued by the Federal Lands Commissioner.
LSHSM’s 20-year concession is to operate and maintain KL Tower and its surrounding areas, which measure about 10.08 acres. The agreement was to take effect from April 1.
KL Tower, a 421-metre-high landmark, typically attracts between 1,000 and 1,500 visitors daily, mostly international tourists.
