KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 18): CBRE Group has appointed Hugh Macdonald (pictured) as CBRE head of capital advisors for Asia Pacific.

According to a press statement on Monday, Macdonald will relocate to Singapore in 1Q2025 in his new role, where he will report to CBRE Asia Pacific global head of investment banking Leo van den Thillart, and head of capital markets Greg Hyland.

“Our capital advisors business has experienced exceptional growth in Asia Pacific, raising over US$3.5 billion (RM15.67 billion) capital in the past 18 months. With Hugh’s established relationships, we are confident in expanding our investment banking services across the region, providing top-tier capital markets, M&As (mergers & acquisitions), and strategic solutions to our clients,” said Hyland in the statement.

Macdonald said, “I am eager to collaborate with my new colleagues to enhance the value we provide to our clients, meeting their diverse capital requirements, and driving business growth throughout the Asia-Pacific region”.

Macdonald was previously from Deutsche Bank and was its head of investment banking coverage and advisory for Australia and New Zealand, as well as has extensive experience from institutions such as Citi, Morgan Stanley, and Bankers Trust. His expertise is in various financial products, including M&As, financing, and capital markets. He has executed numerous high-profile transactions across the Asia Pacific, showcasing a strong cross-border experience.
