• This is after DBKL had received a complaint from residents of PPR Wangsa Sari about an explosion at the J Satine condominium construction site in Wangsa Maju.

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 11): Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has issued a stop-work order last Saturday after receiving a complaint on Thursday from residents of PPR Wangsa Sari about an explosion at the J Satine condominium construction site in Wangsa Maju here.

According to a DBKL statement, the explosion was reportedly caused by structural failure at Block C of the condo development.

A site investigation carried out by DBKL found cracks in the shear wall structure, pillars and floors in the units on the 8th floor (facilities floor) and above.

DBKL therefore issued a stop work order under Section 70B(2) of the Roads, Drains, and Buildings Act 1974 (Act 133) to the project consultants.

It also ordered the project consultants to:

a) Suspend all construction activities, ensuring site safety and cleanliness

b) Appoint an independent engineer to assess the overall structural integrity

c) Submit a report on the structural integrity inspection

d) Implement rectification measures as recommended by the independent engineer

“The period of stoppage of construction will depend on the implementation of the actions outlined in the stop work order,” stated DBKL.

DBKL added that it is taking a serious view of the incident that took place at the J Satine project.
