KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 11): Johor-based KSW Group's The Commune Lifestyle Mall, located in Kulai, Johor, opened its doors to the public through an opening ceremony on Tuesday (Sept 10), according to a press statement issued on the same day.

Spread across four acres, the three-storey mall has a total net lettable area of 200,000 sq ft. Its two anchor tenants are Hwa Thai Supermart, a Johor-based grocery chain, and Sports Affairs, which is a sports facility and multipurpose hall comprising 10 indoor badminton courts, two futsal courts and basketball facilities.

The mall also houses some of Kulai or Johor’s firsts including a Chagee Drive-Thru, a Burger King Drive-Thru, Good2U, Kenangan Coffee, Richeese Factory, Bingxue, IJ Space and Guoma Seafood Shabu Shabu.

In the statement, The Commune chief executive officer David Kang said, “With its unique offerings and prime location just minutes from the airport and close to Singapore, The Commune is set to become a key destination for both locals and tourists. We believe this mall will transform the shopping habits of the community, drawing visitors from across the region and creating a new hub of activity in Johor.”

Also present at the opening ceremony of the mall was Deputy Communications Minister and Kulai Member of Parliament Teo Nie Ching. She said, “I am especially proud to see Kulai now host such a significant development, with its beautiful and modern design serving as a beacon of progress. The Commune is also introducing many firsts to Kulai and Johor, which will truly elevate the shopping and lifestyle experience for our community. I am confident that The Commune will continue to drive prosperity and play a vital role in Johor’s growth.”

Meanwhile, the statement also highlighted that the mall has partnered with AirAsia Move to allow its customers to earn points through the airline company’s AirAsia Rewards programme.

Representing AirAsia Rewards, its head Nicole Tan said, “By integrating AirAsia Rewards with The Commune’s unique shopping experience, we are not just enhancing value for our shoppers, but also redefining the connection between travel and retail.

“This collaboration allows us to offer a seamless and enriched experience, setting the stage for a new regional shopping and tourism standard. Together, we are creating opportunities that will significantly benefit the local economy and elevate the overall experience for visitors.”

Additionally, the statement said The Commune has introduced The Commune Circle app in partnership with AirAsia Move. This app will allow shoppers to view members' exclusive rewards, promotions and benefits.

The mall has also collaborated with EU Holidays in Singapore. Through this, the statement said special discounts and promotions along with curated shopping and dining packages tailored for Singaporean visitors will be offered. EU Holidays will also operate exclusive bus tours from Singapore to Johor, with direct routes to The Commune in Kulai.

The Commune Lifestyle Mall is a 15-minute drive away from the Senai International Airport, a five-minute drive from the Johor Premium Outlets and has access to major highways such as the North-South Expressway.
