• See Yong & Son Construction Sdn Bhd is demanding that Seremban Engineering Bhd pays the first portion of the retention sum amounting to RM579,016, a performance incentive of RM463.212, and late payment interest of RM33,348.

KUALA LUMPUR (June 15): Seremban Engineering Bhd (SEB) said it is being sued by construction firm See Yong & Son Construction Sdn Bhd (SYS) over payments for subcontract works.

See Yong is demanding that SEB pays the first portion of the retention sum amounting to RM579,016, a performance incentive of RM463.212, and late payment interest of RM33,348.

The firm also wants SEB to issue a certificate of completion for the subcontract works, said SEB in a bourse filing.

In response to See Yong's claims, SEB said: "It is the perception of See Yong that their contractual obligation has been fulfilled since the subcontract works were completed on Nov 28, 2022.

"However, the position of SEB is that See Yong itself has taken a long period of time to rectify the defects, and the delay of See Yong itself in this project has directly affected the physical completion date and their entitlement under this project."

SEB said it is seeking the necessary legal advice over the lawsuit.

It added that the litigation is not expected to have any financial and operational impact on the group, save for legal fees and disbursements.

SEB shares closed 8.5 sen or 10.3% higher at 91 sen on Thursday (June 15), giving the group a market capitalisation of RM72.8 million.
