PETALING JAYA (June 3): Integrated industrial space solutions provider AME Elite Consortium Bhd continues to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) with its latest addition, Nasdaq-listed medical device giant Insulet Corp.

Insulet Corp’s latest manufacturing facility will be built in AME’s newest industrial park, namely i-TechValley in SiLC, Johor Bahru. The new fit-for-purpose facility with a built-up area of approximately 400,000 sq ft is Insulet’s first presence in Southeast Asia, complementing its existing manufacturing capacity in the US and China. The manufacturing facility is expected to be operational in mid-2024.

AME group managing director Kelvin Lee Chai said that AME’s first two integrated industrial parks, i-Park in Indahpura and Senai Airport City, had proven to be FDI magnets for global corporations, and expressed confidence that the upcoming i-TechValley will follow suit.

He said: “Welcoming Insulet Corp to i-TechValley is a big win for AME and for Malaysia as it is the medical device giant’s first manufacturing facility in Southeast Asia. Notably, negotiations were ongoing even while Covid-19 continued to dominate overall sentiment in the past year.

“We believe this proves two things. Firstly, expansion plans must still go on for growth-centric global players. Secondly, our industrial parks and capabilities adhere to the highly-stringent international standards of the medical sector.”

He added: “More than 70% of occupants in our i-Parks in Indahpura and Senai Airport City are multinational corporations, and we are confident of similar uptake for i-TechValley, even more so as global players diversify their presence in Southeast Asia to strengthen their supply chain resilience. AME is well poised and ready to fulfil this anticipated demand.”

Established in 1995, AME is an integrated and comprehensive industrial space solutions provider, encompassing the development of gated and guarded industrial parks, the design and construction of large manufacturing plants, the sale and lease of industrial factory units, as well as rental and management of workers’ dormitories.

The group comprises in-house construction and engineering expertise, including mechanical and electrical engineering, and industrialised building systems involving steel structures and pre-cast concrete fabrication.

AME has completed i-Park @ SiLC, i-Park @ Indahpura (Phases 1 and 2) and District 6 in Johor. The group is also currently constructing i-Park @ Senai Airport City in Johor.
