KOTA KINABALU (Jan 25): Sabah’s Local Government and Housing Ministry to focus on prioritising the development and wellbeing of the people, according to the Daily Express.

The Ministry’s Minister Mandate 2022 ceremony was held at Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa on Monday (Jan 24).

Property development, housing, infrastructure development and basic infrastructure such as maintenance of ditches and drains, new construction of markets, stalls and morning market areas will be the ministry’s priorities with the aim of supporting a long-term economic recovery, he further explained.

“Focus should also be given on efforts to improve existing policies and legislation, intensify the monitoring of local authority projects in the field, and carry out evaluation studies for the purpose of improving the Ministry’s delivery system,” he said.

“Special attention should also be given to efforts to improve the efficiency and wellbeing of the people through the improvement of implementation mechanisms, monitoring, coordination and evaluation so that services delivered to the people are faster, more efficient and effective,” he added.

For 2022, RM72.56 million has been allocated by the Ministry on the operating expenditure while RM13.89 million was allocated for development expenditure.

With the allocation, Masidi noted that careful planning has to be made in making sure the allocation is spent according to its purposes.
